Following a fee review, regulations have now been made to amend IP Australia’s fees. The fee changes will commence on 1 October 2020.
The fees for many of IP Australia’s patent and trade mark services will be going up. For example, filing fees for a standard trade mark application (not using the Pick List) will be going up $70, from $330 per class to $400 in Official Fees.
The full list of fee changes can be viewed on the IP Australia website at: https://www.ipaustralia.gov.au/about-us/public-consultations/fee-review-2019-2020/Fee-Changes-2020.
If you need to pay any patent, trade mark or design renewal fees or intend to file a new patent, trade mark or design application, we suggest renewing or filing before 1 October 2020 to avoid paying the extra fees.
